The Loudoun Convention and Visitors Association will be hold the 2nd Annual Cruisin' the Caribbean, scholarship fund-raising auction, Oct. 10, 5:30 p.m., at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Dulles. The cost is $25. Call 703-771-2617, Ext. 11.

Virginia Tech president Dr. Charles Steger will be the keynote speaker at the Newsmaker Luncheon of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce set for Tuesday, Oct. 15. Giant Food and General Mills are teaming up to donate $75,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure with the Pink for the Cure Program. In addition to the "pink for the cure" items in stores, customers also can purchase pink reusable shopping bags. A limited number of bags are available at each Giant store, and the bag’s manufacturer, Earthwise, also will make a donation to Komen for each bag purchased.

Safeway Inc. has launched its annual month-long public service campaign to help find a cure and encourage mammogram screenings and examinations for women. The company’s Eastern Division Safeway stores will split the contributions raised at its 141 stores in the mid-Atlantic region between MedStar Health and Johns Hopkins.

The Hispanic Business Council of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce has named Jackie Krick council chairwoman. Krick, a long-standing member of the Hispanic community, previously served as vice chair.

Krick is the president of ECU Communications LLC, a strategic marketing communications and consulting firm serving the federal government and private sector. Krick was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and has played an active role in the Hispanic community for more than 20 years.

Bowman Consulting has hired Jim Horner as chief financial officer and Jamie E. "Packie" Crown as principal. Horner brings more than 20 years of executive-level financial management experience and Crown brings more than 25 years of land use expertise, particularly with Loudoun County.

Goodman & Company recently hired Christopher C. Nokes, MBA, as business specialist in the Tysons Corner office. Nokes, a Sterling resident, is a graduate of Strayer University with both a bachelor of science and master of

business administration in accounting.

Bob Ohneiser announces the Ohneiser Law Firm is now qualified for NFL Agency duties. His law practice is extending its contract law offerings. He is now licensed by the NFL Players Association as a certified contract advisor.

Floors & More Design Centers has opened its newest store at 21340 Cedar Drive, suite 110, Sterling. The center includes a full range of flooring products, kitchen cabinets and granite counter tops.

AH&T Insurance in Leesburg has been named "Best Practices Agency" by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) in a study of the leading independent agencies in six revenue categories. More than 800 independent agencies throughout the U.S. were nominated to take part in the annual study, but only 195 agencies qualified for the honor.

BNI NOVA (Business Networking International) begins a new six-month term with the new leadership team. The president is Jim Wehr of Capital Financial Partners, vice president is Susan Evans of AH&T Insurance and secretary-treasurer is Sarah Ribnisky of Loudoun Square Storage.

Dulles Town Center announces that Hollister has opened its first store in Loudoun County. Hollister is located on the lower level in the Nordstrom wing.
