Adult computer classes, geared toward the novice are being offered at Sterling Annex Community Center. 22084 Shaw Road, Sterling. Basic PC Usage will be held on Mondays, Sept. 24 - Oct. 15. Microsoft Word will run Oct. 22 – Nov. 5. Class times are 7 - 8:30 p.m. The cost is $89 with pre-registration required. A $10 materials fee will be collected at the first class. Whizkids for Homeschoolers at Sterling Annex Community Center, 22084 Shaw Road, Sterling. A computer class for Homeschoolers ages 7 - 12 years old. Experienced instructors will teach MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Grade appropriate projects and small classes. Each student will have use of a computer. Get Me Started, a new series of painting classes for adults who want to learn to paint but don’t know where to start, will be offered in October from 12:30 - 3 p.m. each Saturday. Participants need to pre-register for each class but do not need to purchase any supplies. The fee for each class is $25, which includes all materials and tools. Four separate classes include: Oil/Acrylic (Oct. 6), Watercolor (Oct. 13), Pastel, (Oct. 20) and Charcoal/Graphite/Colored Pencil (Oct. 27). The Loudoun County Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension will offer a Virginia Gardener Shortcourse. The Shortcourse is a condensed version of the training that Trainees who are new members of the Master Gardener Volunteer program receive. The Shortcourse is held in the Loudoun Cooperative Extension conference room at 30-B Catoctin Circle, SE (Wachovia Bank Building), Leesburg. The sessions are from 6-8:30 p.m. and are spread throughout the year. Dates for this year are: Oct. 25, and Nov. 8. Participants may sign up for individual sessions or for all eight.
