</b> Awards presentations and a display of students’ original prize-winning artworks will highlight the City of Alexandria PTA Reflections Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at Minnie Howard School, 3801 West Braddock Road. Free. This year, 583 ACPCS students participated at the local level, with 73 moving on to the city level. Of those, 19 students from the City of Alexandria moved on to the Northern Virginia District level.
The Del Ray Artisans Spring Art Sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Spring Sale is held outside in Colasanto Park, adjacent to the gallery. This is a chance for all Artisans to show and market their work. Each participant gets a 10’ x 10’ space, and most use a tent, though it is not required. The fee is $35 plus a donation of 10 percent of sales; 15 percent with use of DRA credit card processing with a signed DRA contract. The Alexandria Commission for the Arts encourages the public to nominate Alexandria artists and art organizations for the Governor’s Awards for the Arts 2008. An exhibit by Civil War soldier, artist and musician William Lydston, Jr., will remain at Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site through Dec. 31, to coincide with a statewide celebration of music in Virginia.
