Ben-Eze Narrows List To Two

According to Bishop O’Connell basketball coach Joe Wootten, Frank Ben-Eze has narrowed his college choices to Davidson and Georgia Tech, and is very close to announcing where he will play basketball next season.

Wootten expects an announcement very soon, possibly Thursday after Ben-Eze told the University of South Florida, Indiana and UCLA last week that they were no longer schools he was considering.

Ben-Eze, who originally committed to Harvard in September — prior to the basketball season — reopened his recruitment after a published report questioned Harvard’s recruiting practices.

After reopening his recruitment, the 6-foot-10, 230-pound center that moved from Nigeria before his sophomore season, also considered Wichita State.

Davidson, in the Southern Conference went to the Elite Eight last season, and finished a school-best ninth in the country with a 29-7 record. Georgia Tech, who went to the national title game in 2004, went 15-17 overall and 7-9 in the Atlantic Coast Conference last season.

The NCAA signing period ends May 21.
