‘Menu of Opportunities’ at RCC

The Reston community established the Reston Community Center (RCC) in 1964. The center, funded by a special tax district, offers leisure, entertainment, fitness and other programs in two RCC facilities and throughout the community.

Leila Gordon, RCC’s executive director, said those looking for activities that are fun and family-friendly should turn to RCC. "RCC is the first-stop for leisure," said Gordon. "It is something that offers anybody who lives or works in Reston a menu of opportunities to play," she said.

The main facility at Hunters Woods Shopping Center is undergoing renovations throughout this summer to improve the aquatics facility and the building’s air conditioning system. It is expected that the building will be opened in November. In the meantime, the center has taken its programs outdoors. "Even though we are under reconstruction, RCC has not skipped a beat at all," said Gordon. "There are lots of things people can do whether we’re open at Hunters Woods or not."

The Hunters Woods facility is located at 2310 Colts Neck Road. It features an aquatics center, a theater and meeting rooms. The Lake Anne facility is located at 1609-A Washington Plaza and it features an art gallery and meeting rooms.
