Public Libraries

The Fairfax County library system includes local community libraries and larger regional libraries. Book clubs for adults are available at most branches, as are activities for children by age group from toddlers through high school students. Dolley Madison Library, which opened in 1967, covers 11,000 square feet and houses about 80,000 books. It employs about 30 full- and part-time staff members and about 10 volunteers. Programs include preschool storytime and a summer reading program for children.
