Fair Lakes Farmer’s Market!

The Fair Lakes Farmers Market, located in the Whole Foods Parking Lot, is now open Wednesdays from 3:30-7 p.m.; and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Host to many great local producers. Centreville Regional Library is seeking volunteers to put their green thumbs to good use. A motivated person who can offer suggestions on how to improve the landscaping is needed to start and run a team of gardening volunteers. Work hours are flexible. Help others improve their English! Do one-on-one tutoring or co-lead conversation groups for people who want to practice and improve their English skills. The greatest need is for evening and weekend sessions. Guiding Eyes for the needs puppy raisers who are willing to open their homes to Labrador Retriever puppies until they are old enough to be professionally trained as guide dogs, usually 16-18 months. A Gamble on Education Charity Poker Tournament will be held Thursday, July 24 from 6-10 p.m. at the Long & Foster Building, 6101 Redwood Square Center, Lower Level, Centreville. There will be poker, raffles, prizes, food and fun. All proceeds benefit the Centreville Community Foundation’s scholarship fund. Four scholarships are distributed among Centreville High, Chantilly High, Westfield High and Mountain View School.

Create and paint a piece of early American-style redware pottery with Grace Wolf of Clay Cafe Studios of Chantilly. Make a mug on Thursday, July 24; and a bowl on Saturday, Aug. 23. Fired and finished items will be ready for pickup one week later at Clay Cafe Studios. This hands-on art activity is great for adults, scouts, and children, ages eight years and up.
