Herndon Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Sing-Along. The Herndon Chamber of Commerce stages its annual holiday celebration Saturday, Dec. 6 from 5-6 p.m. featuring the lighting of Herndon's Christmas Tree, joined with Herndon High's Band in a carol sing-along . Barbara Harding provides holiday music for the children. Santa Claus comes to Town with presents for the little ones. The event takes place on the lawn of the Old Town Hall Square, 730 Elden Street, Herndon. Sponsored by BB&T Herndon.

The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra is celebrating the holiday season with its "Holiday Pops" concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, at George Mason University's Center for the Arts. The Fairfax Choral Society and the W. T. Woodson High School Select Vocal Ensemble return to join the Symphony for renditions of the season's most beloved tunes. FSO Associate Conductor, Glenn Quader, shares the podium with Dr. Douglas Mears, Music Director of the Choral Society, and Michael Ehrlich, Director of the W.T. Woodson Chorus. Tickets for this performance are $15 for children and students with valid identification, and range from $15 - $45 for adults. Anuradha N. Ralapati, MD of Centreville has been named Medical Director for VITAS Innovative Hospice Care of Northern Virginia. In this role, Dr. Ralapati directs patients' medical care, including pain and wound management protocols; supports interdisciplinary care teams ensuring quality care and assessing hospice-appropriate patients; and educates healthcare providers and the public on the qualities and values of hospice care.
