The Lee Mt. Vernon Soccer Club U-13 Hawks, a select travel soccer team coached by Paul Ngend and David Camara, won the prestigious YMS Yardley Soccer Tournament over the Columbus Day weekend, with four straight victories over nationally ranked teams, including shut-out victories in both playoff games.

The YMS tournament, held along the Delaware River in Pennsylvania, is considered one of the premier soccer tournaments in the United States.

As a result of the championship win, the Hawks are currently No. 6 in the nation for their age-group out of hundreds of travel soccer teams from across the country. The team will be traveling to Orlando, Fla. over the Thanksgiving Day holiday to compete in another prestigious tournament, the Disney Junior Showcase, which brings top teams all over the world.

In order to cover their expenses, the Hawks would welcome any sponsorship donations from local Mt. Vernon and Alexandria businesses and individuals. Interested sponsors should contact the Hawks’ team manager, Bob Draim, by email at rdraim@hudginslawfirm.com or by phone at (703) 837-3208.
