Cabin John Middle School, 10701 Gainsborough Road, Potomac, is holding "Help the Homeless Walk 2008" on Friday, Oct. 31 in support of three charities.

Dr. Paul Yellin, former national director of the Student Success Program at the All Kinds of Minds Institute will give a presentation on helping developing minds find academic success Wednesday, Nov. 12, 7:30 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, 8804 Postoak Road, Potomac. The Parent Encouragement presents sponsor two presentations by Dr. Edward M. Hallowell, child and adult psychiatrist, and best-selling author of 14 books. A scholarship fund has been established at Montgomery College In memory of County Councilmember Marilyn Praisner. Each year a scholarship will be awarded to a woman attending Montgomery College as a returning adult student, under guidelines that have been established for the fund. The first scholarship will be awarded this fall.
