The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority today released the 2008 passenger statistics for Washington Dulles International Airport. Dulles International served 23.9 million passengers in 2008, a 3.5 percent decrease from the 24.7 million passengers served in 2007. In 2008, Dulles served a record 6.2 million international passengers, a 4.9 percent increase from the 5.9 million international passengers served in 2007.
The merchants of Franklin Farm Village Center in Herndon donated $1,000 to Oak Hill Elementary School as part of the shopping center's holiday promotion. The school received the donation thanks to Katie Karabulut of Herndon who listed Oak Hill Elementary as her favorite school on the entry form she filled out for a shopping spree drawing. Karabulut's daughter, Corinne, is a first grader at the school. In addition to a $1,000 donation to the school, Karabulut won a $500 shopping spree to Franklin Farm Village Center for herself. The money will go toward the purchase of new computers.
