The Mount Vernon Evening Lions Club members entertain 60 guests at the anniversary party held at Fort Belvoir Golf Club.

The Mount Vernon Evening Lions Club was chartered in June 1999. The club had worked in the community as a Lioness club and as an auxiliary club of the Mount Vernon District for many years before becoming a Lion Club. The Club presented the Melvin Jones Fellow to Lois Lowry, and Andrea Corsillo received the Lions of Virginia Humanitarian Award. Incoming president, Lion Karen Parker, was installed by International Director Lion Wayne Davis.

Community projects that the club did this past year included a baby shower for UCM, shawls for local nursing homes, clothing for local schools, provided eyeglasses to community members through the Fairfax Eye Clinic, sponsoring the sight and hearing screening van. The July dinner meeting will be held at Pema's restaurant on Tuesday, July 21. Interested persons may contact Andrea 703-960-4973.
