Green Bay Packers sign former T.C. football player, Titan tennis honored

Muhtadi Signs with Packers

Former T.C. Williams and University of Maryland football player Dean Muhtadi went undrafted in the NFL Draft two weeks ago, but was recently signed by the Green Bay Packers as a free agent. He is currently listed on their active roster.

A defensive lineman in both high school and college, Muhtadi was named first team all-Patriot District during his senior season at T.C. Williams in 2003. He then played two seasons at Christopher Newport University before transferring to Maryland. During his two years in College Park, Md., Muhtadi saw action in 19 games. He was tied for third on the team in sacks as a senior, while earning academic all-ACC honors.

The honors kept piling in for the T.C. Williams boys’ tennis team, a week after qualifying for the Northern Region tournament. Senior Tarik Kottir was named to the first team all-Patriot district in singles at the number three position. Kottir was undefeated in district play at 14-0. Freshman Kyle Hairston was named to the first team all-District in singles in the number four position. Kottir and Hairston were named to the First Team All-District at the number two position in doubles.

Evan Hulehan and Max Rickett, both seniors, were named first team all-district at the number one position in doubles. Hulehan and Rickett had a season record of 12-2 in that position. Rickett was also named to second team all-district in singles at the number two position. Junior Scott Cohen was named to second team all-district in singles at the number five position.

Hulehan and Rickett are the number one seeds in the Patriot District Doubles Tournament, which began on May 5 at West Potomac High School.
