Six Burke artists more than 80 local artisans of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild that are showcased at the 27th annual Thanksgiving Weekend Art and Craft Showcase at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. S.E. The show dates and times are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27 and 28, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3.

Burke artists participating in the show are Melanie Barry, who enhances glassware and wine accessories with glass beads and silver wire; Sue Doak, who specializes in the ancient technique of quilling, creating pieces of paper art; Louise Gunderson, who knits and crochets afghans, baby blankets, baby clothes, household items, scarves and hats; Elaine Throm, who creates fabric accessories and ornaments; Cathy Tittman, a jewelry designer who uses crystals from all over the world; and Gene Viliva, who makes silver plated ornaments of drawings of historic buildings, monuments and interesting sites.
