Arlington Sports Briefs: Washington-Lee Football Gets First Win

The Washington-Lee football team defeated Falls Church, 23-19, Friday to earn its first win of the season.

The Generals (1-3) had been outscored 114-14 during their first three games before coming through against the Jaguars (1-3).

Washington-Lee travels to play Jefferson on Friday.

<b>Wakefield football loses to Edison</b>

The Wakefield football team fell to 0-4 with a 48-13 loss to Edison on Friday.

Wakefield quarterback Drew Powell completed 7 of 12 passes for 89 yards and rushed six times for 22 yards. Thomas Rice caught three passes for 27 yards.

The Warriors host Stuart on Friday.

<b>O’Connell opens conference with loss</b>

The Bishop O’Connell football team went 3-0 during non-conference play, but suffered its first loss Saturday at the hands of Washington Catholic Athletic Conference power Good Counsel, 35-8, at OHS.

Greg Gadell scored the Knights’ lone touchdown on a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter.

William Conner rushed 17 times for 59 yards for the O’Connell. Joshua Trimble carried 16 times for 59 yards and Gadell had 58 yards on 14 carries.

Beau Fitzpatrick led the Knights with 11 tackles.

O’Connell hosts Archbishop Carroll on Saturday.
