A crowd near 200, including local scouts from the Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals, and New York Mets, were on hand to see the annual American Legion District 17 All-Star game at Waters Field in Vienna on July 4. The National team, composed of players from Alexandria Post 129, Arlington Post 139, Springfield Post 176 and Annandale Bicentennial Post 1976 defeated the favored American team, composed of players from Alexandria Post 24, Falls Church Post 130, Vienna Post 180 and Annandale Bicentennial Post 1976, by the score of 21-1. Representing Alexandria Post 24 were Andrew Zumwalt (Hayfield), Collin Bowyer (Mount Vernon), Logan Beougher (Mount Vernon), and Justin Boutin (Mount Vernon).
