Arnold Dean Taylor, 72, of Alexandria, died July 3, 2010 at Mount Vernon Hospital in Fairfax County, of Multiple Myeloma (cancer). Beloved husband of Dorthy M. Taylor; father of Ron Taylor (Trina), Teresa Mathes (Rick) and David Taylor (Christal); brother of Gene Taylor; half-brother of the late Billie Comfort; grandfather of Crissy, Robert, Amber, Camden, Connor and Zachary; great-grandfather of Kyle. Dean, as family and friends knew him, was born in Marfrance, West Virginia. Son of Arnold O. Taylor and Hattie (White) Taylor, both deceased.
He worked as a plumber in the northern Virginia area over 40 years and was last employed by Plumbing Services Incorporated until retirement.
Dean loved all things outdoors, especially canoeing and fishing, and had a special fondness for animals and birds. He looked forward to festivals, holidays, and celebrations. He was a kind and caring man with a heart of gold and a backbone of steel. His humor, playfulness and mischievous ways will be missed by all. We are proud to bring him back to the mountain state he loved so dearly as his final resting place.
Visitation and a funeral service are being held at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr., Alexandria; funeral service beginning 11a.m. Thursday, July 8. Services are open to family and friends. The family has requested donations made to American Cancer Society in his memory in lieu of flowers.
