Alexandria Sports Briefs: T.C. Baseball Wins

The T.C. Williams baseball team opened its season with a 14-1, five-inning victory over Wakefield on March 17. Senior pitcher Chris Cattaneo tossed a complete game, striking out seven while not allowing an earned run.

"Chris had an excellent outing," head coach Andrew Simpson wrote in an e-mail. "He kept his pitch count down, worked ahead in the count and threw first-pitch strikes all night long. We wanted a strong performance to kick start our season and that is exactly what Chris delivered for us."

Sophomore first baseman Aaron Tovsky went 3-for-3 with a double, home run and three RBIs. Junior left fielder Steve Weidman was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run and junior catcher Trav Clark was 2-for-3 and threw out both Wakefield attempted base stealers.
