Forum on Stopping Dating Abuse

— "What's Love Got To Do With It? Healthy Relationships and Dating," an educational interactive program will be held Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in the McLean High School auditorium (1633 Davidson Road in McLean). If Fairfax County Public Schools close due to inclement weather, this program will be held on Wednesday, March 7- same time, same location.

For parents and high school students (due to mature content, this program is not recommended for middle school students). The evening program will contain three components:

*Live Theatre Presentation: "Remote Control," an interactive dating violence prevention program presented by the Deana's Educational Theater that explores issues, attitudes and beliefs about dating relationships and incorporates skill-building exercises designed to encourage healthy decision-making. *Speaker: Lynne Russell, President and Founder of DASH, the mother of 19-year-old Siobhan Russell who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in Oak Hill, Va. in 2009, and President of Dating Abuse Stops Here (DASH) which provides resources, facts and information to help teens, their parents and friends understand more about this growing problem. *Community Forum: A clinical social worker specializing in adolescents and families and a trauma physician from INOVA will guide the audiences in an exploration of healthy aspects of teen relationships and dating.
