Musicians from Paul VI Catholic High School’s choral and instrumental ensembles recently won awards at the OrlandoFest Music Festival in Orlando, Fla. Accompanied by teachers and chaperones, sixty-eight students participated in the trip. In addition to performances and rehearsal time, the group spent recreational time at Universal Studios and Disney.

The choir, under the direction of R. Mae Trimble, earned a rating of Superior. Choral students performed Fa Una Canzona, The Silver Swan (accompanied by Katie Eastman) and Anthem of Peace.

The band and strings, under the directions of Jan Siegfried, earned ratings of Excellent. The band performed March of the Belgium Paratroopers, Viper and By Loch and Mountain. The strings performed three works as well: Sonatina in G (accompanied by Katie Eastman), America’s Cup and Russian Gypsy Song (soloists Bridget Hone and April Diedrich).
