The person next door who is always ready to help with neighborhood fix-it projects. The neighbor down the street who can be counted on to look after pets or keep watch on homes when owners are on vacation. The friend across the way who never fails to offer a smile, a wave, a hello—and a helping hand.
These are the good neighbors for whom the Town of Herndon is renowned—and these are the citizens who are celebrated as the town presents its Good Neighbor Award. Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2013 award; deadline for submissions is Nov. 8.
Residents of the town may nominate a family member, friend or neighbor who makes noteworthy contributions toward the quality of life in their neighborhoods. Recipients of the Good Neighbor Award must be residents of the Town of Herndon and the act(s) for which they are nominated may not have been performed as an element of paid employment.
Good Neighbor Award recipients will be recognized by the mayor and town council at an upcoming public meeting and will receive a commemorative gift.
Nomination forms for the 2013 Good Neighbor Award are available on the “Cultivating Community” page of the town’s website, www.herndon-va.gov. Forms are also available at the Herndon Municipal Center and the Herndon Community Center; for more information, call 703-435-6800 X2010 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
