Letter: Election in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

The current Congressman from Virginia’s 11th Congressional District (Gerry Connolly) prides himself in being the first to defend the Obama Administration. He has defended the Attorney General, the handling of Benghazi, the NSA, the VA, the Border Patrol, the EPA, and most importantly and most frequently the IRS. All of which can do no wrong in his view. He fully supports the use of the executive order. He supports the open borders policies of this administration and feels that the administration is right in its handling of all foreign policy. His voting record can best be described as “What would Nancy Pelosi do” as he votes with her more than 97 percent of the time. He boasts of his record as defender of this failed President from phony scandals. Yet at the same time, he is contemptuous of the people he claims to serve – the federal worker.

The contrast with his opponent in this November’s election couldn’t be more striking. Suzanne Scholte is not a career politician as Gerry is. Suzanne is a humanitarian who will at least listen to her constituents (unlike Gerry). Suzanne believes in a strong defense whereas Gerry believes in a strong defense of the Obama administration. Suzanne wants to change the new healthcare law to improve on it. Gerry thinks it is beautiful the way it is. Suzanne believes freedom, human rights and human dignity are being undermined here in Northern Virginia. Gerry just laughs. He openly mocks Americans who believe they were victims of unfair treatment by our government.

It is time for the 11th District to wake up and make a change. Vote for Suzanne Scholte in November.
