The Clifton Wine Shop held its monthly First Friday Wine and Art Sept. 5 by pairing the art of D.C. Artist Tina Palmer with the wines of Spain.Palmer, influenced by her father's painting and drawing, studied graphic design in college before computer aided design where most designs were hand rendered. After starting a family she began a custom framing business that led to her being noticed by a gallery who was interested in selling her art. Her paintings were displayed by Barry Broadway of Broadway Gallery with art galleries in Alexandria and Great Falls.Lucinda Lawson, owner of the Clifton wine Shop, originated the Clifton First Friday concept. Working with wine distributors and importers she provides tastings of five or six wines from specific regions. This month's tasting focused on the wines from Spain and Brad Pace from Potomac Selections described the sparkling, white and red wine selection descriptions. The Clifton Wine Shop offers wine education classes weekly on Tuesday and Wednesday with two classes - 6 to 7:15 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m. for $10 per participant. Members of the Clifton Wine Shop can attend for free.
