App Offers Guide to Beginner Bikers in Herndon

The My City Bikes Northern Virginia app created in partnership between My City Bikes and A-1 Cycling is a free beginner's guide to local biking throughout Herndon.

My City Bikes Northern Virginia can be downloaded for Apple or Android devices on the iTunes or Google Play app stores.

Beginner friendly experts at A-1 Cycling can be accessed through the local My City Bikes Northern Virginia app for advice and support. They specialize in gear just for female riders, including bicycles designed specifically for women’s and girls' unique physiology.

My City Bikes powered by Interbike is a public health campaign for beginner cyclists. The web and mobile campaign benefits communities by providing simple, localized mobile resources and media advocacy to facilitate cycling.

Volunteers Needed for Food Packing Event

Assistance League of Northern Virginia invites community members to help pack food for the Weekend Food for Kids program which benefits 1500 schoolchildren who receive reduced-price meals during the week. The next food packing event is at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 at Dominion Virginia Power, 3072 Centreville Road, in Herndon. Arrive at 9:30 a.m. if you would like to help with setup. ArtSpace Herndon’s Fine Art Photography Competition

ArtSpace Herndon invites photographers from Virginia, the District, Maryland and West Virginia to participate in the 2016 ArtSpace Herndon Fine Art Photography Competition. The competition is open to fine art photographers aged 18 or older working in any medium (digital or analog, color or monochrome), and using any printing technique. Fine Art Photography of any subject is welcome; there is no required theme for entries. Entry deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016. at 2 p.m. Finalist for the Competition will make up the 2016 Fine Art Photography Exhibition at ArtSpace Herndom in the Nelson J. and Katherine Friant Post Gallery.
