Our Daily Bread, Combined Properties to Host Fall Food Drives

Fairfax-based nonprofit Our Daily Bread is partnering with Combined Properties to host Fall Food Drives in Fairfax City on Saturdays, Nov. 7 through Dec. 12. The food drives will be held at 10382 Willard Way, Fairfax, in the Courthouse Plaza Shopping Center in Fairfax City, 10 a.m-4 p.m. A different local non-profit will collect food and donations of funds or grocery store gift cards each Saturday. In addition to charities that provide assistance to local individuals and families in need, local schools that provide weekend backpacks of food to students in need will be collecting to assist children in their school. Combined Properties has donated a store space to host the food drives each week, and organizations will collect at that space and at the Safeway at Courthouse Plaza.

The organizations that will hold food drives are:

  • Nov. 7: Cunningham Park Elementary School Weekend Backpack Program

  • Nov. 14: Marshall Road Elementary School Food4Thought Program

  • Nov. 21: Our Daily Bread

  • Nov. 28: Daniels Run Elementary Food4Thought Program

  • Dec. 5: FACETS

  • Dec. 12: Lorton Community Action Center

Sponsoring Families in Need for Holidays

Fairfax-based nonprofit Our Daily Bread, Inc. (ODB) is seeking individuals, families, companies and community groups to “sponsor” needy individuals and families who reside throughout the Fairfax County area for Thanksgiving and the December holidays. Community members may help by registering through Our Daily Bread’s website (www.ODBFairfax.org) to provide a Thanksgiving meal and/or December Holiday meal and gifts for children under 18.

ODB also welcomes corporate sponsorships, cash donations or the donation of grocery store and discount store gift cards so ODB can distribute assistance to families who are not matched with sponsors. Donations may be made on ODB’s web site. Checks and gift cards may be mailed or delivered to Our Daily Bread at 4080 Chain Bridge Road, 2nd Floor, Fairfax, VA 22030. For more information about the Holiday Program, contact Our Daily Bread at 703-273-8829 or hpassist@ODBfairfax.org.
