Local 5K and 1-Mile Walk/Run to raise support and awareness of military non-profit, Hope For The Warriors, which aims to restore hope for service members, their families, and families of the fallen. The Maccabeats. 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia, 8900 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax. A cappella holds a cherished place in the Jewish tradition, having been extensively employed in both the synagogue and the home over the millennia due to an ancient prohibition against playing instruments on Shabbat. The Maccabeats have emerged as both Jewish music and a cappella phenomena.
