Fairfax author Leslie Welch

Fairfax resident Leslie Welch’s first solo book “The Goodbyes”came out in July 2016.

Welch writes at least a thousand words a day on D.C. Metro orange line trains. Most of them perish behind the delete button, but enough have been deemed worthy for the creation of her new romance novel.

“The Goodbyes” tells the story of rockstar Webb Turner, who has pined for the enigmatic girl across the street, Bree, since he was thirteen years old. He captured her in his songs, but never in his orbit. His lyrics about her propelled Webb's band to superstardom, but his fame came with the price of finding real love.

The novel started as a creative exercise. On a road trip from Washington, D.C., to her childhood home in Pittsburgh, Welch imagined other reasons she might be making the drive. For her 2014 National Novel Writing Month project, she decided to explore this daydream.

The Goodbyes is being published by Blue Moon Publishers and is being marketed by DigiWriting, both firms based in Toronto, Canada. For more information, visit Blue Moon Publishers at http://bluemoonpublishers.com/.
