Blood Drive

The Town of Herndon’s Blood Drive is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Inova Blood Donor Services Bloodmobile will be located in front of the Municipal Center at 777 Lynn Street.

Mayor’s Volunteer Appreciation Night

During National Volunteer Week, the Herndon Town Council sponsors the annual Mayor's Volunteer Appreciation Night.

The 32nd annual event is scheduled for Sunday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at the Herndon Community Center to recognize Herndon's volunteers.

ScholarME

The Town Council plans to honor Herndon High School’s Business Management Virtual Enterprise Team and its teacher Kathy Thomas at next Tuesday’s Town Council public hearing, Feb. 9.

Herndon High School’s Business Management Virtual Enterprise Team won the state competition in Virginia Beach. The team will represent the state at the Virtual Enterprise International Competition in New York City on April 18-21.

The team’s winning business was called ScholarME.

Budget Season: Get Involved

Town Council and the Town of Herndon, Virginia, will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 9 for public comment on the development of the town manager’s proposed budget for FY 2016-2017.

The Council will meet Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Herndon Council Chambers Building located at 765 Lynn Street.

The town’s budget last year was $49.86 million.

The proposed budget will be available at the beginning of April, and the Town Council will hold additional public hearings on April 12 and 26.

Volunteers Sought for Food Packing Event

Assistance League of Northern Virginia invites community members to help pack food for the Weekend Food for Kids program which benefits 1500 schoolchildren who receive reduced-price meals during the week. The next food packing event is at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 at Dominion Virginia Power, 3072 Centreville Road in Herndon. Arrive at 9:30 a.m. if you would like to help with setup.
