TheatreMcLean enters the courtroom with the children’s comedy “Goldilocks on Trial” by Fairfax County educator and playwright Ed Monk. Goldilocks was accused of breaking and entering. Will she be found guilty and sent to jail, or will the truth come out?
Directed by Phillip Reid, “Goldilocks on Trial” runs in McLean High School’s Burks Theatre Feb. 6 and 7. Tickets are $8-$10, and may be purchased online at bit.ly/theatremclean.
Fun for all ages, “Goldilocks on Trial” puts a new twist on an old storybook classic. It's up to Judge Wallabee and some very silly jurors to decide Goldilocks’ fate after hearing testimony from Goldee, the bickering Three Bears, and surprise witness Merwin the Big Bad Wolf, among other classic fairy tale characters.
McLean High School theatre teacher and director Phillip Reid said, “‘Goldilocks on Trial’ is a perfect second show for TheatreMcLean. I wanted to bring a children’s show to McLean so all family members could enjoy the theatre. With ‘Goldilocks on Trial,’ students are able to create big absurd characters and a show that is fun for all ages.”
The cast includes Lauren Grobman (Melvin the Bailiff), Alexandra Lagos (Judge Wallabee), James Clardy (DA Muffinhead), Jordan Prather (Attorney Wombat), Kylie Coffey (Goldilocks), Graydon Al-Khafaji (Papa Bear), Bryn Kirk (Mama Bear), Ruby Larimer (Baby Bear), Carmen Beadie (Detective Clorox), Amanda Flores (The Little Pig), Carenna Slotkoff (Dr. Cantaloupe), and Ralph Whitfield (Merwin the Big Bad Wolf). Ensemble members include Ray Redding, Ang Gardner, Addie Clements, Marika Bak, Shea Killoran, Blake Johnson, Anna Brykczynski, Ariana Colder, Morgan Rich, Haley Rose, Utku Ozturk, Syd Kirk, and Ashley Winegarden.
