Incidents

Vehicle Tampering - 100 Block Saint Andrews Drive, NE. Between March 6 at 8 a.m. and March 11 at 6:45 a.m. A resident reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle, which was parked on the street, and took loose coins.

Grand Larceny - 100 Block Melody Lane, SE. Between March 7 at noon and March 14 at noon. A resident reported several items were stolen from his home.

Suspicious Event - 800 Block Follin Lane, SE. March 8 between 9:30 a.m. and 3:35 p.m. Security Officers reported two suspicious men in the area taking photographs of a building. The report was made several days after the incident.

Arrest – Hit and Run - Church Street at Mill Street, NE. March 8, 4:19 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle reported he was northbound on Mill Street stopped at the stop sign for Church Street. As he proceeded into the intersection he was struck by another vehicle that was traveling westbound on Church Street and failed to obey the stop sign. The striking vehicle immediately left the area without checking on the other driver or providing his information. The driver of the first vehicle and witnesses to the accident provided officers with a description of the striking vehicle, a tag number and a description of the driver in the suspect vehicle. After further investigation, An officer arrested a 22-year-old man from Woodbine Lane in Annandale, Va. for Felony Hit and Run and Driving on a Suspended License. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was held on a $1500 bond.

Suspicious Event - 100 Block Melody Lane, SW. Between March 10 at 8 p.m. and March 11 at 10 a.m. A resident advised that on the previous night she observed an unknown person inside her neighbor’s vacant house. Officers checked the property, finding some vandalism. However, they were unable to determine if the damage was recently made.

Domestic Dispute - 1000 Block Hillcrest Drive, SW. March 11n 7:14 p.m. A resident had an argument with his adult son. After officers spoke to both parties the son agreed to leave the house for the night to allow time for him and his dad to calm down.

Open Door - 600 Block Valley Drive, SE. March 12, 12:29 p.m. A resident reported an open garage door at her neighbor’s house. It appeared that the neighbor may have forgotten to close the door when they left the home that morning. An officer checked the residence and found all other doors to be secure and nothing appeared to be disturbed. MPO Vazquez was able to secure the garage door.

Weapons Violation - 300 Block Center Street, North. March 12, 4:04 p.m. An officer responded to the report of a man shooting squirrels with a BB gun in his backyard. The officer located the man who admitted to shooting at the squirrels because they were causing damage to his house. Officer Hylinski explained the Town Code which prohibits discharging a BB gun in the Town. The man was unaware that he was breaking any law and agreed to comply with the Town ordinance.

Lost Property - Tuesday Morning, 136 Maple Ave., West. March 12, 7 p.m. A resident noticed her cell phone was missing when she returned home from shopping. She believes she may have lost it in the area Tuesday morning.

Arrest – Narcotic Violation - 100 Block Beulah Road, NE. March 12, 10:05 p.m. An officer observed a vehicle traveling above the speed limit on Beulah Road and initiated a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After further interaction he located a measurable amount of marijuana and paraphernalia. The driver, an 18-year-old woman from Red Rock Court in Vienna, was issued a summons for Speeding and for Possession of Marijuana. She was released after signing the summonses.

Found Property - CVS, 337 Maple Ave., East. March 13, 3:35 a.m. An employee reported finding US Currency that was left in the store. It is believed the money belongs to a citizen who had previously filed a lost property report with the store. The currency is being held at the Vienna Police Station to be released to the owner.

Animal Case – Quarantine - 800 Block Ninovan Road, SE. March 12, 4 p.m. Fairfax County Animal Control advised they had taken a report from an area hospital regarding a juvenile who had been bitten by her neighbor’s cat. The child was being treated at the hospital for the injury that had occurred the previous day while the child was petting the cat. An officer responded to the area, but was told by a neighbor that the cat’s owner is currently out of town. An officer will follow up on this case to locate the animal and quarantine him.

Fraud - 200 Glyndon St., NE. March 13, 8 p.m. A resident reported working on her computer when a pop-up ad came on the screen advising her of a virus on the computer and instructing her to call a telephone number. The resident called the number provided and allowed the person remote access to her computer. The resident is concerned that this may have been a fraud and that her personal information may have been compromised.

Fraud - 200 Block Commons Drive, NW. Between March 14 at 8 a.m. and March 17 at 4 p.m. A resident reported being the victim of fraud when she was notified by mail that she had won in Publisher’s Clearing House. The letter provided her with a telephone number to contact to collect her winnings. After calling the number she was instructed to send a large sum of money for insurance on her winnings. This case is being investigated.

Found Property - Vienna Police Station, 215 Center St., South. March 14, 2:55 p.m. A citizen brought a found wallet into the Vienna Police Station. The wallet will be held at the station until the owner can retrieve it.

Suspicious Event - 300 Block Tapawingo Road, SE. March 14, 3 p.m. A resident reported a continuous dispute with a female neighbor. He advised that when visitors come to his home they legally park their vehicles on Tapawingo Road. The neighbor has become upset with the visitors, yelling at them, taking photographs of their vehicles and banging on the resident’s door until the vehicles are moved. Officers have previously explained to the neighbor that the visitors have a right to legally park on the public roadway, however the incidents have continued.

Found Property - 900 Block Meadow Lane, SW. March 15, 2 p.m. A citizen turned in a wallet that had been found by workmen at a home that is under construction. The owner was notified, and the wallet will be held at the Vienna Police Station until the owner can retrieve it.

Vandalism - 200 Block Church St., NW. March 16 between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. A citizen left her vehicle legally parked in a parking lot. When she returned to the vehicle she found someone had vandalized it.

Grand Larceny - Westwood Country Club, 800 Maple Ave., East. March 16 between noon and 4:30 p.m. A citizen reported his watch and wallet were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot. The citizen believes he dropped his key fob in the parking lot, possibly allowing the unknown person access to his vehicle. His key fob is also missing.

Found Property - 100 Block Branch Road, SE. March 16, 4:05 p.m. A resident reported a found bicycle that had been left at the park on Branch Road. The bicycle is being held at the Vienna Police Station.

Assault - Cedar Lane School, 101 Cedar Lane, SW. March 17, 10:04 a.m. A student reported being assaulted by another student. Petitions for assault are pending in this case.

Animal Case - 1000 Block Country Club Drive, NE. March 17, 10:38 p.m. A resident located an injured dog in her yard. An officer transported the dog, a brown lab with no identification, to a local animal hospital for medical treatment. He then transported the dog to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. An officer will follow up on this case.

Crashes

115 Park Street, SE. March 8, 12:26 p.m. The first vehicle was traveling northbound on Park Street, SE. The second vehicle, a FedEx delivery truck was on Park Street, backing up into a parking space to make a delivery. While the delivery truck was backing up the driver of the first vehicle accelerated and struck the driver’s side front tire of the truck. Damage was only caused to the first vehicle.

115 Park Street, SE. March 8, 12:50 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was exiting a driveway to turn left and go southbound on Park Street. The driver of the second vehicle was traveling northbound on Park Street. The driver of the first vehicle advised her vision was obstructed by other vehicles when she pulled out in front of the second vehicle. The second vehicle struck the front passenger side of the first vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle advised she was injured, but refused rescue. That driver was issued a summons for Failing to Pay Full Time and Attention.

Nutley Street at Marshall Road, SW. March 11, 2:25 p.m. A vehicle was traveling northbound on Nutley Street through the intersection of Marshall Road. The driver noticed a manhole cover ajar in the middle of the intersection but could not stop in time to avoid striking it. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the Town’s Department of Public Works responded immediately to repair the manhole cover.

200 Block Maple Ave., West. March 13, 1:46 p.m. The first vehicle was stopped in traffic in the westbound lane of Maple Avenue. The driver of the second vehicle failed to stop in time and ran into the rear of the first vehicle.

410 Maple Ave., West. March 14 between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The owner of a legally parked vehicle returned to find it had been struck by an unknown vehicle.

100 Block Maple Ave., West. March 15, 1:12 p.m. Two vehicles were traveling eastbound in adjacent lanes on Maple Avenue. The driver of the second vehicle attempted to change lanes and struck the first vehicle, causing minor damage to both vehicles.The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

1000 Block Electric Ave., SE. March 16, 9:22 a.m. The first vehicle was a dump truck with a trailer attached traveling westbound on Electric Avenue. The driver of the dump truck slowed prior to crossing a speed bump. The second vehicle was traveling behind the dump truck. The driver of the second vehicle became distracted and did not notice the truck had slowed down and struck one of the trailer ramps. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

Maple Avenue, East at Center Street, North. March 16, 1:05 p.m. Two vehicles were stopped for a red traffic light in adjacent lanes on Maple Avenue at Center Street. The first vehicle was in the right lane, the second vehicle was in the left lane. As the light turned green, the driver of the first vehicle accelerated and struck the passenger side mirror of the second vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle was issued a summons for No Operator’s License.

100 Block Park Street, SE. March 16, 2:04 p.m. Two vehicles were traveling southbound in the 100 block of Park Street, SE. The driver of the first vehicle began to turn right into a parking lot and came to a complete stop halfway into the lot. The driver of the second vehicle attempted to pass the first vehicle on the left, but did not leave enough distance causing him to strike the first vehicle.
