West Potomac High School senior Jarrod Denham was awarded $500 as the second annual recipient of the Peter Williams Memorial Scholarship during Old Town Alexandria Connections’ May 11 luncheon meeting at Belle Haven Country Club.

The Peter Williams Memorial Scholarship was established by OTAC in 2015 to honor the memory and contributions of the late Peter Williams, past OTAC president, and to further his legacy of responsible business practices and service to others.

Jarrod will be attending Bridgewater College this fall on scholarship. He is majoring in exercise science with intentions to pursue a graduate degree in physical therapy. He also will be on the school’s football team. In addition to his academic achievements in high school, Jarrod has played several sports, including baseball and football, and is active in the community through Boy Scouts and with a special needs baseball league. Jarrod’s scholarship application essay was about teacher pay in Fairfax County and the repercussions it has on the quality of education.
