Each year on Sept. 11, the front lawn of West Centreville Fire Station 38 is adorned with multitudes of small, American flags. This station’s firefighters — who also responded to the Pentagon on 9/11 — place 343 flags outside in honor of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives that day in New York. Each little, white tag atop every flag contains the name and unit of one of those firefighters. The station is on ODay Drive, off Stone Road.
