Crime Report: The following incidents were reported by the Mount Vernon District Police Station.

SHOOTING: 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue, April 6 around 5 p.m. Officers responded for a report of the sound of gunshots and a group of males getting into a car; one of them appeared to be injured. Officers located and stopped the car nearby. An investigation determined one of the occupants, an 18-year-old man, suffered an apparent gunshot wound, was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigation suggests this was not a random incident. The investigation continues.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERY / ARREST: Harvard Drive / Cavalier Drive, April 5, around 1:50 p.m. A patrol officer received a hit for a stolen car that was parked in the area. Officers waited and moments later, saw a man get into the car. They immediately approached and took the suspect into custody. An 18-year-old man from Alexandria was charged with grand larceny of an automobile.

ARMED ROBBERY 8400 block of Frye Road, April 3, around 7 p.m. The 18-year-old victim was walking home when a car pulled up and five men jumped out and assaulted him with a pipe. The suspects took cash and property from the victim and fled in a car. The victim had minor injuries, but refused rescue.

ASSAULT/TRESPASSING/ARREST: 5900 block of Richmond Highway (Great American Steak Restaurant), March 28 around 5 p.m. A man was arrested after becoming disorderly and attempting to assault a 38-year-old woman. The suspect entered the business around 5 p.m. and was asked to leave due to a prior unrelated incident there. He returned about 30 minutes later. When he was asked to leave again, he became upset, grabbed a knife from the kitchen area and threatened the victim. He turned toward other customers with the knife then walked out. Officers located him nearby and took him into custody. A 70-year-old man from Annandale was taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with assault and trespassing. The victim did not require medical attention.

BURGLARY: 2700 block of Arlington Drive, March 27, around 9 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and took property.

BURGLARY/BIAS-RELATED INCIDENT: 5900 block Grand Pavilion Way. The victims reported that their apartment was broken into sometime between March 24 and March 27. A maintenance employee entered the apartment to do work and found it in disarray and reported what he had found. Property was stolen and there was an anti-muslim statement written on a wall. The incident is under investigation. There is no suspect information.

ROBBERY: 7100 block of Richmond Highway, March 24 around 1:50 a.m. Two men robbed a 20-year-old man. The victim was walking outside when the suspects approached from behind and assaulted him. They stole money and fled. One suspect was described as white or Hispanic, 30 to 35 years old, about 6 feet tall and wore a light brown jacket with a gray hoodie. The other was described as black, 40 to 45 years old, about 6 feet tall, with a stocky build, and wore a black hoodie and baggy blue jeans. The victim declined medical attention.

ROBBERY: 7100 block of Richmond Highway, March 24, around 1:50 a.m. A man was walking home when he was approached by two men. The men assaulted him, took money, and fled. The first suspect was described as black, 40 to 45 years old, about 6 feet tall, with a stocky build, and had a light beard. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans. The second suspect was described as white or Hispanic, 30 to 35 years old, and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a light brown jacket and gray hooded sweatshirt.

TRESPASSING/MALICIOUS WOUNDING/ARREST: Janna Lee Avenue/Audubon Avenue, March 21, around 6:20 p.m. A patrol supervisor was driving in the area of Janna Lee when he recognized a suspect from an incident that occurred on March 12. The man tried to flee, but was apprehended. The 18-year-old man from Alexandria was positively identified as the suspect who shot at a Wal-Mart employee on March 12. He was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with attempted malicious wounding and trespassing.
