Messengers of Peace in Vienna

Cub Scouts and their families from Pack 1530 participated in the inaugural garlic mustard removal event on April 29 at Fairfax County Park Authority's newest Invasive Management Area (IMA) site called Difficult Run Stream Valley Park in the Miller Heights neighborhood of Oakton. These Cub Scout volunteers removed enough of this highly invasive plant to fill 20 large garbage bags. IMA is a volunteer-led, community-based program designed to reduce invasive plants on public lands. Cub Scout Pack 1530 is part of the Powhatan District of the National Capital Area Council and Vale United Methodist Church is its chartering organization. By participating in this conservation activity, scouts earned the Messengers of Peace patch.
