Week in Great Falls: Senior Center Event to Discuss Genomics

The Great Falls Senior Center (GFSC) speaker for May 15 is Carla L. Easter, Ph.D., chief of the Education and Community Involvement Branch at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI ). Easter played a major role in the development of the NIHGRI/Smithsonian exhibition, Unlocking Life’s Code, and its accompanying website, and serves as a liaison to the K-12 and university community as a speaker on genome science and career preparation and pathways. Dr. Easter also serves as adjunct faculty member at the University of the District of Columbia Department of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The May 15 event will be held at The Christ the King Lutheran Church,10550 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes lunch for those who have made reservations with Polly Fitzgerald at pollyfitz1@verizon.net or call 703-759-4345.
