Two Fires in Two Days Displace Families
TWO TOWNHOUSE FIRES on two consecutive days in Leesburg Christmas week — Dec. 28-29 — displaced several families. Both were two-alarm fires. The first fire, at 1533 Artillery Terrace off Edwards Ferry Road outside the Leesburg bypass, was followed by a second townhouse fire the next day at 111 Hancock Place inside the bypass and also off Edwards Ferry Road.

Loudoun Museum Closed for Repairs
THE LOUDOUN MUSEUM in Leesburg, which has been searching for a temporary location while repairs are underway at the existing location at Loudoun and Wirt streets, has closed to the public temporarily. Mold and dust encountered during the repairs have made it necessary to close the museum, according to Curator Pamela Stewart. The museum building dates to the 1840s. Read more... |

Herring Named to Governor's Panel
STATE SEN. MARK HERRING, a Democrat representing Loudoun County, will be named by incoming Governor Bob McDonnell, a Republican, to McDonnell's new Technology Working Group advisory panel. The new panel would formally be named when McDonnell takes office Jan. 16.
