The Mount Vernon girl’s basketball team celebrates after defeating Edison for the outright National District title last Friday. The Majors split their two regular-season meetings with the Eagles but had little trouble in a 49-31 win. They take on West Springfield in Wednesday night’s regional quarterfinals. The boy’s team faces Annandale. Both games occur after the Gazette’s press time.
