Kathy Smith took the Oath of Office as the newly elected Sully District representative to the Fairfax County School Board in front of family and friends Thursday night before the start of the board's regularly scheduled meeting.
Afterwards, she posed for photographs with her family, then supporters who came armed with flowers for Smith.
Once the photo session ended, it was time to get down to business. No sooner did Smith get settled into her dais seat than chairman Stuart Gibson (Hunter Mill) appointed her the chairman of the General Services Committee.
