Arrest Made in Attack on Family

Sheriff's Investigators arrested a man in connection with an April attack on a Sterling family on Friday, May 7. Fredy Portillo-Miranda, 31, of Sterling was charged with three counts of malicious wounding. The charges stem from an April 11 incident where several suspects attacked a 50-year-old Sterling man and his wife, 57. when they attempted to help their son, 28, who was fighting with a group of Hispanic males suspected to be gang-affiliated outside their Sterling home. The husband, who received several stab wounds in the incident, was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he has since been released. His son, also injured in the assault, was also taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital. The wife was taken to the Emergency Room at Loudoun Hospital where she was treated and released. Portillo-Miranda is being held at the Loudoun Adult Detention Center without bond. The case remains under investigation.
