Town Center for Ashburn?

Supervisor Lori Waters (R-Broad Run) will be hosting a series of community meetings over the next month to gather public input on a community plan for Ashburn.

The Broad Run Community Plan will include input on pedestrian paths, priority road projects and a designated town center for Ashburn. While a town center was recently approved for Lansdowne, it does not necessarily mean it will be the designated town center for Ashburn. The county's general plan calls for four suburban town centers.

A developer-initiated comprehensive plan amendment submitted to the county last fall would have placed a town center at the corner of Route 7 and Loudoun County Parkway. The proposal, called One Loudoun Center, was rejected after Waters expressed concerns about density.

"Instead of just letting the applicant ... drive the process, I thought it would be more important for the community to drive the process," Waters said.

The five Broad Run community meetings will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on April 20, at Belmont Country Club Clubhouse; April 27, at Ashburn Fire Department Social Hall; May 9, at Stone Bridge High School auditorium and June 9, at Belmont Ridge Middle School auditorium. There will also be a meeting June 4, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Farmwell Station Middle School auditorium.

Residents are also welcome to submit input via Waters' Web site at http://www.loudoun.gov/bos/bios/lw.htm.
