Marymount Girl’s Lax Finishes Season

Marymount’s girls lacrosse team quadrupled its win total from last season, but that wasn’t enough as the Saints lost 16-6 to Mary Washington in the quarterfinals of the Capital Athletic Conference, according to a school press release.

Marymount finished 8-8 overall — its highest win total since 2003.

But in the CAC Tournament, UMW pounced early, amassing a 12-2 lead after the first period. The Saints outscored UMW in the second period, but it wasn’t enough to prolong the season.

Sara Horne tallied two goals in the game and had five draw controls and four groundballs, while Anna Sody also had two goals and two draw controls. Junior co-captain Marie Montgomery, a Wakefield graduate, and SpringAnne Hatfield each had one goal and one assist. Elizabeth Hulfish was in goal and had 12 saves.
