Clifton Caboose Twilight 5K is May 12
Anyone can hold a 5K race early in the morning, but the Town of Clifton does things differently. Its 15th annual Clifton Caboose Twilight Run is Saturday, May 12, with the 1-mile fun run/walk starting at 6 p.m., and the 5K, at 6:30 p.m. It’ll happen rain or shine; and in this competition, not only the winners receive prizes, but the last-place, or caboose, finisher also gets an award.

Displaying Strength and Flexibility in Pole Dancing
Twenty competitors — 14 amateurs and six professional pole dancers — participated in the Ms. Virginia Pole Dance Fitness Competition held Saturday, April 28 at the Hilton Crystal City. The event comprised three rounds, the compulsory round during which competitors performed pole routines without music to demonstrate strength, flexibility, stamina, balance and overall athletic ability; a second round during which competitors are interviewed and asked to answer questions posed by the judges, demonstrating their communication skills, and a second performance round with a longer routine set to music and judged on technique and theatrical skills.

Hub Theatre Receives Helen Hayes Award
At the 28th Annual Helen Hayes Awards presented on April 23, the 2012 Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding New Play was received by Marc Acito for his "Birds of a Feather." The play recounts the story of two Central Park Zoo penguins, Roy and Silo, who raised a chick together. Inspiration for the play came from the children's book "And Tango Make Three" by Peter Parnell and Justin Richardson in which Roy and Silo appeared.

Ferrari Club Holds Annual Spring Thaw
The Mid-Atlantic Region of the Ferrari Club of America held their Annual Spring Thaw event in Reston Town Center on Saturday, April 14. The weather cooperated brilliantly and the cars, parked along Market Street as well as in the Pavilion itself, sparkled in the sunshine. The pedestrianized street was crowded with people checking out the vehicles and stopping to take photos of themselves and family members in front of cars both new and classic. There were many local entries, as well as cars from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and even Florida on display.

Take one overbearing mother, add a cup of devilishly handsome men, two teaspoons of pretty-and witty-girls, and put in just a pinch of romance, deception, and unceasing humor and charm: sounds like the perfect recipe for a dramatic soap opera. But this is no daytime television show: this is Jane Austen! Herndon High School took Austen’s classic novel and placed it up on the stage in their performance of "Pride and Prejudice."
