Test Launch
Nearly 400 elementary students from the Cathedral of St. Thomas More School in Arlington gathered Wednesday, May 22, to watch the test launch of radio and camera equipment that will be used on a space satellite to be launched into orbit in 2014. This launch, the first of its kind conducted by an elementary school, will be the climax of a three-year project in which students have been building a CubeSat, a satellite primarily aimed at collecting data in space. With assistance from NASA, students have been involved in all facets of this project: from building and testing to recording information and preparing for the launch.
