The event will be on Wednesday, June 18, at the Fairview Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, and will begin at 7 p.m. when refreshments will be served. President Alice Butler-Short will open the business meeting at 7:30 p.m., after which the speakers will present their topics and answer questions.

The Republican Women of Clifton (RWC) welcomes U. S. Congressman Darrell Issa from California’s 49th Congressional district as guest speaker at its May meeting. Issa serves as the top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, charged with protecting the interests of U.S. taxpayers and eliminating waste, fraud and abuse. The meeting will be on Monday, May 19 at the Fairview Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, and the social hour will begin at 7 p.m. when refreshments will be served. President Alice Butler-Short will open the business meeting at 7:30 p.m., after which Rep. Issa will deliver comments and entertain questions.

Cub Scout Pack 157, based at Herndon Elementary School and chartered by Herndon United Methodist Church, celebrated its annual Blue and Gold Banquet on Friday, Feb. 21, with a focus on space. Held throughout the United States in February, Blue and Gold Banquets are an opportunity for the youth and families that participate in scouting to get together with food and fun.

The presentation by Robert Mobley focused on trails, not roads, where the question of surface material has been a matter of much discussion.

Fairfax Resident Earns Girl Scout Gold Award

Eleni Antzoulatos of Troop 5462 in Fairfax, was one of 221 Girl Scouts from the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital (GSCNC) recently recognized for earning the highest award in Girl Scouting. The annual ceremony, called "In Your Honor" was held at Trinity Washington University and celebrated the accomplishments of young women in the region that reached this extraordinary summit.

For anyone interested in checking out some local creative talent, consider the upcoming Clifton Film Fest, which will feature work from filmmakers around the area. The Clifton Film Fest is Saturday, July 19, and a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the event is underway until July 4. Funds raised from the campaign cover t-shirts and the VIP area for the filmmakers, as well as a red carpet area where they get interviewed.
