Diana Janice Richards of Centreville, Va. passed away peacefully from cancer on May 9, 2012. She was born in 1939 in upstate New York, daughter of John R. Schmidburg and Rose Hornick.

Nature Center Hosts Evening Hike

An argument between neighborhood residents against their civic association and the Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Committee escalated to a disagreement between members of the County Board, but one that ended with unanimous approval.

Commentary

The past week has been a busy one in the General Assembly as the House of Delegates passed the 2016-2018 biennial state budget. The Senate also passed a similar budget. During the next two weeks, differences between these two budgets, which are relatively minor, will be negotiated to form a consensus budget that will be forwarded to the governor. The new budget will take effect July 1.

The most recent city debate defines the fact that both Bill Euille and Kerry Donley have no allegiance to neighborhoods. When the candidates were asked if they would place lights at T.C. stadium both Euille and Donley answered affirmative for lights while Allison Silberberg said no. Euille's answer was expected and on the record however Donley's answer highlights the fact that he too is insensitive to the plight of the Woods community and their history and has no regard for neighborhood agreements made with the city.
