McLean Theatre Company puts on Arthur Miller’s tale of 1950s immigrants.
When McLean High School’s McLean Theatre Company decided to present Arthur Miller’s "A View From the Bridge," the wide open spaces of the regular auditorium just wouldn’t do. For the performances, they decided to use the more intimate confines of the school’s black box theater. The result is a play, a tale of poor Italian immigrants living in the shadow of New York’s Brooklyn Bridge, that happens within a few feet of the audience at all times.

J. Fleming, Jr — to be destroyed unopened" written on the lid in 1983. "I couldn't resist reading them," she said.

Cicadas stage a comeback to Potomac area.
Maturing slowly underground for the past 17 years, the cicada is poised to reappear in Potomac beginning sometime this month. Part of a class of periodic cicadas called Magicicada Brood II, found only on the eastern seaboard, this particular species is unique in its long, prime-numbered life cycle and massive, timed emergence, not to mention its loud chorus, that can sometimes top 90 decibels in a swarm.

Year after year students from all different backgrounds flock to SEES for another school year together. But in 54 years of schooling, Springfield Estates has never had a showcase of talent such as “Annie, Jr.”
