The Little Theater of Alexandria (LTA) is presenting the "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" from Feb. 27 to March 19. The show where the cast plays themselves is an irreverent, fast-paced romp through the Bard's 37 plays in 97 minutes. It was also London's longest-running comedy, having clocked nine years in London's West End.

FACETS Holds Academic Achievement Party

FACETS held an Academic Achievement Party last Thursday, June 27, at Old Town Hall in Fairfax City to honor 32 youth who earned A’s and B’s on their report cards and for the 13 students who graduated from high school, 12 of whom are moving on to higher education. After a potluck dinner, Mike Collins from Rep. Gerry Connolly’s office (D-11th) distributed awards and goodie bags.
Melissa Porfirio Is Teacher of Year
Crestwood first-grade teacher “humbled” to be singled out for honor.
Melissa Porfirio, 38, of Springfield’s Crestwood neighborhood was named Virginia’s 2014 Region 4 Teacher of the Year by the Virginia Department of Education. The first- and second-grade teacher at Crestwood Elementary since 2005 will be honored on Friday, Oct. 11, at a banquet and awards program in Richmond.
