5K Race Honors Wounded Warriors
“Run With the Warriors” 5K Race in McLean supports wounded warriors at Vinson Hall.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, the 2014 McLean Run with Warriors 5K took place in downtown McLean, attracting thousands of spectators. General Norton A. Schwartz, 19th chief of staff for the U.S. Air Force, spoke at this year’s event.

Michael Gallagher is the Town of Vienna’s new public works director, but he is not a new face to the Town or its residents. Gallagher has worked in Vienna’s public works department for six years, most recently, since May, as acting director. He was named public works director on Sept. 21.

Volunteers Needed for Relay For Life in Vienna
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life® is seeking volunteers in Vienna—walkers, cancer survivors, caregivers, community leaders, anyone wanting to make a difference—to organize and recruit fundraising teams, garner community support, coordinate logistics, seek refreshments and prizes, plan entertainment and lend a hand to ensure the success of the 2013 event. The 129th edition of Cole Bros. Circus of the Stars is coming to Dulles Town Center. The classic, American-style circus, complete with elephants, tigers, aerialists and acrobats, mystifying magic and hilarious clowns, will appear for performances on Friday, May 10, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 11, 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, May 12, at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Rocktoberfest, a family-fun, musical festival, features a headlining performance from Robbie Schaefer, singer of Eddie from Ohio and singer Kira Willey, a children’s music artist, as well as performances from other local artists at the Metropolitan School of the Arts in Lorton on Sun., Oct. 27 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Workhouse Arts Center at 9601 Ox Road. Cost is $10 per person, which benefits the non-profits, Metropolitan School of the Arts and One Voice, an organization that provides for needy children in East Africa, India and the United States.
