On July 26, Animal Control Officers took 23 small dogs from a private home in the Springfield area. The owner became ill and could no longer care for them. She released the dogs to the county and they are currently being monitored and cared for by a veterinarian.

Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred Tuesday, Feb. 26. Around 11:20 p.m. a 32-year-old woman was walking from Pinecrest Road through the Laurel Glade apartments when she reported a man grabbed her from behind and displayed a weapon. She was pulled into a van where a second man was waiting. The van was driven to Green Range Drive near Emerald Heights Court, where the victim was sexually assaulted and then released.

Reston Holiday Parade Set for Nov. 23

Reston Town Center presents the 22nd annual Reston Holiday Parade on Friday, Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. to launch the festive season with Macy’s-style balloons, musicians, dancers, antique cars, and more. This one-of-a-kind, one-hour parade along Market Street will also welcome the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus in a horse-drawn carriage. The Reston Holiday Parade is held rain or shine, and since 1991 it has been an annual tradition on the day after Thanksgiving. Supervisor Herrity Undergoes Open-Heart Surgery

Now recovering at Inova Fairfax Hospital in ICU

Supervisor Pat Herrity (R-Springfield), 52, underwent open-heart surgery today at 7 a.m., and is currently recovering in the intensive care unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital, according to a statement released by his office at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday, April 5. The surgery was conducted at Inova’s Heart and Vascular Institute by Dr. Alan Spier and Dr. Niv Ad, and the surgeons have informed the supervisor’s family that the surgery went as expected.
