Fundraiser to Support Children’s Science Center
A fundraiser for the Children’s Science Center has been announced by HBC Realty Group’s Community Charity Champions. Come to dinner on Monday, Oct. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pulcinella Italian Host in McLean to support Children’s Science Center and approximately 60 percent of the proceeds from food and drink will go to the charity, as long as the diner brings the flyer for the event.

VRE Announces Operations Board Officers
The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Operations Board instilled its 2015 slate of officers at its monthly meeting. The following were unanimously approved by the Operations Board in December and took on their new roles: Supervisor John Cook (R-Braddock), as chairman; Gary Skinner, Spotsylvania County Supervisor, as vice chairman; Paul Smedberg, City of Alexandria Councilor, as secretary; Maureen Caddigan, Prince William County Supervisor, as treasurer.
Vital Theatre’s ‘Pinkalicious’ at The Alden Feb. 14
Vital Theatre’s “Pinkalicious,” a musical adaptation of the book by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann, will come to The Alden in McLean for a single performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $15 for McLean tax district residents.

Lorton Road to be Widened to Four Lanes
The widening of Lorton Road to four lanes will begin this spring. Construction will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The project area is 2.5 miles and includes Lorton Road, Furnace Road and newly-named Workhouse Road. Lorton Road will be widened from Ox Road to the Silverbrook Road intersection. Furnace Road will be widened to the Lorton Road Intersection from north of Hooes Road.
